Creating a NU.nl News RSS App
To display the RSS feed content from NU.nl on your Yodeck screens, click on the NU.nl app within your app gallery to set it up, and complete the app details as follows:
- Navigate to the left Main Menu and select the Apps tab.
- Next, click the Create App button, then find and select the NU.nl app.
- Once the app pop-up window appears, click the Use App button.
- Now, you need to provide a name for the app, and you can include an optional description.
- The third field, News Category, is a drop-down menu button that you can click to select the news category from which you wish to display feeds.
- Under ‘Post Settings‘:
- Set the ‘Number of posts‘ to determine how many news items to display.
- Set the ‘Post Duration‘ to control how long each news post appears.
- Choose a ‘Refresh Rate (minutes)’ to specify how frequently the app updates with new posts.
- In the ‘Style Settings‘ section:
- Select an ‘Orientation‘ for your display, between Automatic, Horizontal, or Vertical.
- Toggle the ‘Show Time‘ option for displaying or hiding the time the feed was published.
- You may also toggle on options to ‘Show QR code‘, ‘Show Progress Titles‘, and ‘Show News Logo‘* based on your display needs.
- Image fit: Choose “Crop” or “Fit” to actively decide how the post images will display.
- Moreover, you can change the Style of the RSS feeds between the Default or a Custom one to match your visual tone better.
- Under ‘Advanced Settings‘:
- Tags: You can also provide a tag for this app to manage it better.
- Define a ‘Default Duration‘ for how long the app runs during its slot in a playlist.
- Set ‘Availability‘ with ‘From‘ and ‘To‘ dates if you want the app to only run during a specific timeframe. You can find more details in the Media Availability guide.
After configuring all settings, click Save to finalize your SharePoint News app. You can now add it to your playlists and display it on your screens.
* Feed’s Images Are Not Available
NU.nl provides low-resolution images in its RSS feeds, which are not suitable for digital signage. To maintain visual quality, the app hides them by default. For visual balance, we have enabled the Show News Logo by default in the Style Settings.

Yes, the app supports all active Yodeck player types.
The NU.nl RSS images are low resolution and not suitable for digital signage. To maintain quality standards, Yodeck hides them by default.
However, you can enable Show News Logo to add visual branding in place of the feed images.
All categories available in NU.nl’s public RSS structure appear in the News Category drop-down. If a category stops updating or disappears, it’s because NU.nl changed the feed itself, not the Yodeck app.
This usually happens when:
– The Refresh Rate is set too high (e.g., only updates every few hours).
– NU.nl has not published new items in that category.
– The selected Number of posts is larger than the feed’s available content.
Adjusting these values typically resolves the issue.
